New Achievement in CIUZ
The Wen class (Basic Chinese class) and Wu class (Chinese Kongfu class) of Confucius Institute at University of Zambia both started grandly in Confucius Institute in the evening on June 11. More than 20 Students from Greece, India and Zambia took part in the ceremony. Many walks from Zambian society were attracted to there for its reputation and took an immersive experience on Chinese and Chinese culture.
On the opening ceremony, professor He, dean of Confucius Institute at UNZA, at first made a speech which was about the development course of Confucius Institute at University of Zambia. She encouraged students to learn Chinese and Kongfu well in order to be a disseminator for the friendship between China and Zambia. Guo Guangwei, one of Chinese language teachers, introduced specifically some items like the HSK, Chinese Bridge, Scholarship and Summer Camp etc. Professor Zhao Yiqiang put the characters like China, Beijing and Chinese etc into a series stories ranging from the beginning of basic Chinese pronunciation “bopomofo” to the introduction of the Chinese class and cultural palace. Teacher Wang Jinzhong showed the broadsword, sword, Tai-chi Chuan and mantis boxing etc. Such an overwhelming performance was gained the grand applause and cheers from audience.
Now, more than 1500 students of Confucius Institute at UNZA are consisted of many walks of Zambian society (Including officials, bank clerk, managers of travel agencies and local China companies, elementary school students, middle school students and college students) in the well-known Capital of Lusaka, SouthProvince of tourism Livingston and capital of Center province of Kabwe, Cooperbelt of Luanshya and Kitwe etc. With the increasing of reputation of Confucius Institute, the need for Chinese talents in Zambia tends to boom. Under the correct guidance of Hanban and the joint effort of Chinese embassy in Zambia with both the universities and the supports of society, a nice future will be achieved by Confucius Institute at University of Zambia.
