Simultaneous Development of Chinese Language Teaching and Vocational Training
The Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia visited recently large-scale enterprises in Zambia to discuss cooperation matters and took new initiatives of education.
In "Confucius Institute Development Plan (2012-2020)", the Confucius Institute Headquarters / Hanban pointed out that: " The Confucius Institutes in some countries took the implementation of Chinese language teaching, cultural exchanges and vocational training simultaneously to help students learning Chinese language culture while improving their professional skills. Following these instructions, the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia reached agreements with Sino-Hydro power Group Zambia Limited, He‘nan Electric Power Construction Company, China assistance Zambia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center and Golden Peacock hotel in Zambia about the combinations between Chinese language teaching and vocational skills training, between Chinese learning and students’ practice, between the promotion of Chinese language and cultural transmission.
On April 12
th, the cooperated project of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia and China assistance Zambia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center started formally. Director Bao Heping of China assistance Zambia Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center said that their cooperation with the Confucius Institute was built on the basis of mutual willingness. He spoke that they would help Zambian people have one more direct and realistic understanding about China via the combination of the spread of Chinese language culture and advanced agricultural vocational skills which can share resources and operate advantages with each other. Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia He Yi stated the significance of the promotion of Chinese language, culture spreading and skills training in African countries .She stated that it was not a person ,not a unit, but an overall organic unit that this cause belonged to, only via our powerful combination with the better could we enhance the soft power and international competitiveness of China. Subsequently, Dr. Zhao Yiqiang introduced China's economic, political, cultural, institutional, environmental and other aspects of the content through vivid language and beautiful pictures show so that students can feel the profound Chinese cultured, understand China's political system, and praise the rapid development of economy in China. Mr. Guo Guangwei taught daily dialogue of Chinese language to the students. The training activities ended in the beautiful Chinese song.
Ma Teng, Chen Shali, Chen Yulu who work in Golden Peacock Hotel had deep feelings about this cooperative approach and said they would improve the level of spoken Chinese language by practice here because they could communicate with more Chinese .They thanked Confucius Institute for culture because they got jobs, passed HSK Level II and Level III exams taught by Confucius Institute teacher, were helped to declare scholarship students of Hanban this year. They will soon be able to study in China which will completely change their lives.
