Local Chinese Training Classes by CIKU

During January 12-14,2013, the beginning of the new year, Confucius Institute at Nepal University of Katmandu held a local Chinese teachers training course at Hotel Yak & Yeti, in which there were 26 local Chinese teachers took part. Coming from Confucius Institute at University of Katmandu, Bishwa Bhasa Campus of Tribhuvan University, Learning Realm International School, Genuine School at Bhaktapur, Dharmakirti Buddhist Study Center and other Chinese language training agencies, they are consisted by Chinese language training agency teachers, primary and middle school and College Chinese teachers.
Opening ceremony was presided by Zhang Shubin, dean of CI at Chinese side, and Zhang Bing, director of Culture department in China embassy at Nepal, Devi Prasad Poudel, representative of Nepal Ministry of Education, Bhadra Man Tuladhar, headmaster of University of Katmandu, Bam Dev Adhikari, dean of Bishwa Bhasa Campus of Tribhuvan University, Devkant Joshi, headmaster of Learning Realm International School attended and delivered addresses.
Li Mingming, official from Culture department of China embassy at Nepal, Jangab. B. Chauhan, director of Language and Communication College of University of Katmandu, coordinator at Nepal side, Chinese teachers and volunteers in University of Katmandu, representatives from Nepal international Chinese language teachers, representatives from Nepal Radio in China Radio International and some journalists from Xinhua agency and local media.
Confucius Institute at University of Katmandu designed thorough training plan depending on the fact of Chinese teaching in Nepal. There were totally 10 lectures including Chinese Pronunciation, Chinese Vocabulary, Chinese Grammar, General View on International Chinese Teaching Resources and Development about Nepalese textbooks etc. in this training. Except those lectures, there were also some introductions on three suits of textbook, Chinese Speaking Speed-up, New Practical Chinese Textbook, and Happy Chinese; and three demonstration classes and teaching discusses.
Zhang Shubin made a lecture named Introduction to International Chinese Teaching Resources and Construction of Nepalese Teaching Material, referring the international Chinese teaching materials used in world and Nepal at present, internet multi-media teaching resources and four local textbooks written by teachers of CI at University of Katmandu in recent years. The thought combined with teaching experiences himself about local construction on teaching materials also was referred to in this lecture.
Besides, some China teachers also made lectures and demonstration classes. Putting forward suggestions and taking part in the teaching discussion, local teachers studied the problems they had faced in their classes.
Halishi, chairperson of Nepal- China Culture Education Association, made a summarized speaking. He said that this was the first time to train local Chinese teachers in Nepal with successful and profound significances. He hoped such a activities could be held continuously by CI at University of Katmandu to train more local Chinese teachers and make more contribution to the friendship between China and Nepal.
Adhikari, dean of Bishwa Bhasa Campus of Tribhuvan University, was invited to award course-completion certificate of the local Chinese teachers training in Confucius Institute at University of Katmandu for the teachers who attended training.
This training generated resounding results in the Chinese teachers who attended training. They expressed that they learned a lot in the Chinese teaching skills through this activity, acknowledged the host CI at University of Katmandu and expected to improved their level on Chinese teaching by attending more trainings like that.
A teacher in Bishwa Bhasa Campus of Tribhuvan University who attended this training had been teaching Chinese for 12 years, and translated a lot of Chinese materials for Nepal government and companies. He also wrote a pamphlet on the introduction to the overview of Nepal.
This local Chinese teachers training was paid highly attention by China and overseas media. The reports of Chinese and English version about this activity were published by Xinhua agency on the right day the class opened. The reports were transmitted by People Network, China News Network, Hongkong Timely News Network of Ming News, Malaya Xingzhou Network etc. Many mainstream media like Nepalese Channel of China Radio International and Nepal TV all covered it.
